Renuka’s return lifts spirits in dressing room

At the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, Renuka Singh will lead India’s pace attack as she makes her first appearance for the national team since December 2024. On September 30, 2025, India will play co-hosts Sri Lanka in Guwahati to begin their campaign.

Before the forthcoming ODI series against Australia, which starts on September 14, India women’s head coach Amol Muzumdar gave an update on Renuka’s recuperation status ahead of the event. Renuka, who is considered India’s strike bowler with the new ball, has taken 35 wickets at an average of 22.02 in One-Day Internationals while maintaining a remarkable economy rate of 4.85. The dates of the three-game ODI series against Australia are September 14, 17, and 19.

Renuka recently joined this series. She passed every test and was on the mend.

When it comes to medium-pace bowling, Renuka leads the pack and is a valuable team member. She has, in my opinion, been a crucial member of this squad. Mazumdar was described by ICC as saying, “She had an injury, was laid off, and is now back with us.”

Prior to the World Cup challenge, India will have a vital chance to hone their finest combinations throughout the three-match series against Australia. As the team attempts to capitalise on their previous successful results, the head coach underlined that the series is even more important.

India demonstrated their supremacy earlier this year under Harmanpreet Kaur’s guidance, winning the ODI and T20I series in England in June and July after winning the Sri Lanka tri-series final by 97 runs in April and May.

“We’re excited for the series and I believe it’s a very important series for us (Australia).” competing against one of the world’s best teams. We had a great time touring England. We’re looking forward to this series after achieving the favourable outcomes we desired in England,” Muzumdar remarked.

The secret behind Mazumdar’s Women in Blue is preparation.

As he considered the triumphant England tour earlier this year, Muzumdar he outlined the team’s key lessons for the World Cup. In response to a question concerning India’s strategy for the forthcoming series against Australia, the head coach emphasised that the main emphasis will be on honing tactics and making sure the squad is ready for the difficulties that lie ahead.

“As you are aware, we had the findings. 2-1 in the ODIs, and we achieved a first for England by winning the T20I series. It was a fantastic 40-day journey, and we got along beautifully. The teamwork was excellent. Everyone made a contribution. Smriti [Mandhana], who scored a century at Trent Bridge, set up our first victory of the tour, and Harman’s century at Durham sealed the deal.

The majority of the gamers who participated had strong positive traits in between. It was fantastic to see someone like Kranti Goud take six wickets. Radha Yadav played a part in both series. Whether it was with the bat or the ball, Deepti Sharma also contributed, according to Muzumdar.

“We tend to give a lot of importance to how we prepare ourselves, how we plan and how we are going to execute it [and] how we can focus internally,” he continued, “despite the fact that Australia has been the dominant force for so many years.”
