“Dhumal says govt clarity ends doubts on Ind-Pak clash”

In addition to wishing the Indian team luck in the current Asia Cup, Indian Premier League chairperson Arun Dhumal has made clear the government’s position on the impending India-Pakistan match. On Sunday, September 14, the bitter rivals will square off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

In response to a question on whether the game should go ahead or not given the current political unrest between the two countries, Dhumal said that the Indian government ultimately decided whether or not to play Pakistan.

“I hope the Indian squad has a successful Asia Cup. The government has made it clear that it will not play against Pakistan in bilateral relations. Nevertheless, we will have to take part when you obtain an ACC or ICC trophy.

Therefore, we’ll follow the government’s advice,” Dhumal said, as reported by News18.

Dhumal’s remarks coincide with calls for a boycott of the game following the recent tragedy caused by the Pahalgam terrorist incident, which left numerous people injured and several dead.

IPL 2025 was halted for more than a week due to the tragedies in Pahalgam and the escalating border tensions. After the Board of Control for Cricket in India set a revised schedule in May, the massive event was finally restarted and concluded.

In relation to the ongoing continental competition, India has gotten off to a strong start. With 93 deliveries remaining, the Men in Blue easily defeated the UAE, the hosts, by nine wickets. The Suryakumar Yadav-led team chose to field first and quickly overtook the UAE, who were finally dismissed for a mere 57 in 13.1 overs. In just 4.3 overs, India managed to chase the mark.
