Sachin Tendulkar rubbishes BCCI presidency bid rumours

The legendary cricket player from India, Sachin Tendulkar, has flatly rejected that he is a candidate for the position of president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In a statement, his team categorically denied rumours that the former batter will become the next president of the board.

Although Sachin Tendulkar was not accessible for comment, his team asked that the media not make such statements. A statement from SRT Sports Management Pvt. Ltd. provided the clarification.

“We’ve learnt that there have been some rumours and reports going around about Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being nominated or given consideration for the role of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).” We would like to make it clear that no such development has occurred. We implore everyone involved to avoid lending attention to baseless rumours,” the official statement said, as Cricbuzz cited it.

On September 28, the BCCI will hold elections for the positions of treasurer, secretary, joint secretary, president, and vice-president. The current treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhati, joint secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai, and secretary Devajit Saikia are probably going to stay in their roles.

The chairmanship of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the positions of president and vice-president continue to be the primary focus. It is anticipated that Rajeev Shukla, the current vice president, will remain in the BCCI structure in some position.

India won the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy under the leadership of Roger Binny, who was chosen president in October 2022 to succeed Sourav Ganguly. Additionally, he was instrumental in the launch of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). In line with the BCCI constitution, Binny resigned after turning 70.

State associations have till September 12th to submit the names of their representatives for the Annual General Meeting (AGM). It is anticipated that the list will give early clues about potential candidates for the most important positions.
