India-Pakistan: Veteran skipper calls for calm ahead of clash

The forthcoming India-Pakistan encounter, which is set for Sunday, September 14, has prompted former Indian captain Kapil Dev to advise against making a big deal out of it. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) previously declared that it is constrained by the Central government’s policy, which prohibits playing any bilateral series against Pakistan but permits participation in international competitions because of the presence of international stakeholders.

Due to persistent tensions between the two countries, both teams have chosen not to play in each other’s countries, even though India is the official host of this year’s Asia Cup.

Since the issue is not within the control of the BCCI or PCB but rather the governments of the various nations, the renowned cricket player has advised the supporters to let the game proceed as scheduled without question.

It’s a strong team. I wish you luck. They had a resounding victory. We’re hoping the team will bring the trophy back. I’m telling the Indian squad to just go for the win. There is no need to say anything more; those whose job it is to play should just concentrate on playing. Don’t worry too much about this. According to The Indian Express, Dev told reporters, “The players should do their job, and the government will do its.”

After the league stage of the ongoing Chandigarh Premier League concluded, Kapil Dev travelled to Chandigarh to attend the presentations. He praised the Union Territory of Chandigarh Association’s efforts in setting up the competition. Dev was accompanied by Sanjay Tandon, president of UTCA. At the Punjab Raj Bhavan, the former captain also met Tandon and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria.

“I am here to watch this league and would like to know how Chandigarh cricket is developing and how much it has grown.” That is more crucial. I’m happy to see the Chandigarh Premier League taking place because I grew up and played cricket there,” Dev said.

In addition to setting other milestones for the Indian cricket team, Kapil Dev ji began his career at Sector 16 Stadium and guided the team to the 1983 World Cup victory. We are honoured to have him attend the league games. After spending time with him, the players will become more motivated,” Tandon stated.

In their debut encounter on Wednesday, the Indian cricket team defeated the United Arab Emirates by nine wickets, kicking up their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a bang. In the midst of increased public interest, Suryakumar Yadav & Co. will now play Pakistan in what will be their first meeting in international cricket since Operation Sindoor.
