Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan made an impeccable on-air forecast during India’s first Asia Cup 2025 match against the United Arab Emirates at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Irfan Pathan foresaw a yorker even before Jasprit Bumrah had delivered the ball, and the master bowler hit it flawlessly seconds later, smashing the stumps of opener Alishan Sharafu.
At the toss, India, led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, chose to field first, ending their 15-match losing streak. Sharafu and Muhammad Waseem, the UAE’s opening duo, got off to a strong start by hitting boundaries off Hardik Pandya and putting the Indian bowlers on the defensive. However, the first blood was drawn by star speedster Bumrah, who bowled his signature yorker in his second over during the powerplay. Pathan, who was commentating at the time, read the situation perfectly and anticipated a yorker when Bumrah came to bowl. A few seconds later, the 31-year-old hit a yorker that was pitch-perfect.
“What a brilliant yorker it is,” Irfan Pathan stated on air, “and Bumrah made sure to deliver what the situation required.”
This is a crucial over that might mark the Indian team’s comeback. They gave Jasprit Bumrah another over in the powerplay because of this. He’s attempting to set the batter with another slower one. However, Bumrah always goes for a yorker when he is in full flow. And he’s certainly gone for it. He created one after we spoke about the yorker.

India creates the fastest T20I chase in history.
With 22 more runs added to the total, the UAE opener stepped back. The UAE collapsed after the breakthrough, being bowled out for just 57 in 13.1 overs. The best bowler was Kuldeep Yadav, who took four wickets for seven runs, followed by Shivam Dube, who took three. Axar Patel and Varun Chakravarthy also made contributions, as the UAE’s T20I total against India was the lowest ever.
Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the chase for India by scoring 48 runs in four overs. Gill and Suryakumar completed the mark in just 4.3 overs after Abhishek’s explosive 30. This gave the Men in Blue their fastest-ever T20I chase, winning by nine wickets with 93 balls remaining.
