Rinku Singh recalls brutal monkey attack

Indian cricketer Rinku Singh recently talked about his early hardships, stating that he had a physical difference in his hands as a result of a monkey attack. The left-hander’s ascent in cricket has been nothing short of extraordinary in spite of these obstacles.

Rinku Singh vgained notoriety during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) when he led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an incredible victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) by hitting five straight sixes off Yash Dayal in the last over.

He became well-known after that remarkable performance, and he was finally called up to the Indian national squad, where he immediately became a mainstay in the T20I lineup.

Rinku Singh is now with India’s roster for the Asia Cup 2025, where on September 10 the team will play the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“It was raining when he gave me the most dangerous bite. We used to go to the fields because there wasn’t actually a bathroom in the house at the time. With an umbrella in hand, my brother, friend, and I set out during the rainy season. On Raj Shamani’s podcast, Rinku stated, “‘The monkey has come.'” Someone behind us yelled as we were moving.

After that, it caught me from behind. It started biting me repeatedly when I was totally held down. It ripped out a great deal of my flesh. Few people were available to save me. It refused to leave me even when my brother threw stones at it. It really got to me. I hurried away from it while it was raining. My internal bones were apparent, and my blood was flowing in that manner.

After that, we visited a clinic. My family was just standing there with me while they were dressing me, unsure of what would happen or if I would live or die because so much blood was leaking out. I could see my internal bones. I was simply transported there by my folks. ‘Come, a monkey has attacked a boy,’ they said, calling someone somehow. Then they arrived, dressed me, and only then did I feel better,” he continued.

The quick-hitting lower-middle order batter frequently makes vital cameos that assist his side in chasing down difficult targets or posting large totals. He has, however, lately come under fire for his lacklustre play, scoring only one half-century in his last 13 T20I innings. His troubles continued into the 2025 Indian Premier League, where he fell short of expectations. All eyes will be on the young player as the Asia Cup 2025 progresses to see if he can regain his flair on the grand stage.
