Reminding Kuldeep Yadav that he is a true breakthrough bowler, former India leg-spinner Amit Mishra has advised him to concentrate on his natural variations at the Asia Cup 2025. Mishra thinks that during the current Asia Cup, Kuldeep Yadav ability to take wickets will be essential on the UAE fields. In the past, when India won the Champions Trophy in the United Arab Emirates, the left-arm wrist-spinner was a key player.
Despite requests for his participation from supporters and veteran cricket players, Kuldeep Yadav did not play in a single match while travelling to England with the team. Although he has once again been included in India’s 15-man Asia Cup 2025 squad, it is yet unclear if he would be included in the starting lineup. However, Mishra is confident that Kuldeep would be given his chance, stressing that the spinner should continue to concentrate on taking wickets and have faith in his skills.
“I believe he should be given an opportunity, but he should prioritise his natural ball. He is a bowler who takes wickets. He needs to maintain mental clarity. He ought to discuss his preferred field type and bowling technique with Gautam and the captain. Here, I believe he will have a shot,” Mishra remarked.
“He is a talented player, but he must keep in mind that he is a bowler who takes wickets. Instead of worrying about how many sixes or fours he is giving up, he should concentrate on the wicket. The bowling might vary depending on the wicket and the circumstances. The wicket should constantly be in your mind. You ought to consider the field and your bowling technique. That will be very beneficial to him,” he continued.
Kuldeep Yadav has demonstrated his abilities in T20 internationals by taking 69 wickets at a remarkable average of 14.07 in 40 games.
He has solidified his reputation as a wicket-taking option in the shortest format by striking every 12.4 deliveries at an economy rate of 6.77. He maintained his impressive form in the 2024 Indian Premier League, taking 18 wickets in 14 games for the Delhi Capitals.
On September 10, India will play the United Arab Emirates in the opening match of their Asia Cup 2025 campaign at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. On September 14, the highly anticipated match against bitter rivals Pakistan will take place at the same location. India will then play Oman in Abu Dhabi on September 19 to wrap out their group-stage matches.
