Actress, social media star, and choreographer Dhanashree Verma finally spoke out against the harsh labelling and harassment she has endured after her divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal earlier this year. She finally addressed the negativity after months of silence.
The 28-year-old, who presently appears on the reality show Rise and Fall, presented by Ashneer Grover, talked about the labels that online detractors have given her. Notably, Dhanashree Verma and Chahal were married in December 2020, but by March 2025, they had divorced.
The actress was singled out and called a gold-digger as a result of the breakup, which instantly sparked internet trolling. On the day of their divorce, Chahal’s appearance in a “be your own sugar daddy” T-shirt immediately attracted a lot of attention. Since then, Dhanashree Verma has spoken the divorce for the first time, while Chahal has discussed it publicly.
Dhanashree Verma poked fun at the gold-digger nickname on Rise and Fall.
“Everyone is in charge of their own respect; if I so desired, I might insult them as well. You believe that as a woman, I have nothing to say. Even while I was married, I respected my husband, and I must honour the fact that I was wed to him. “You’re also accountable for the respect of the other person when you’re married,” she stated.
In a vlog with Farah Khan, she disclosed that she is still friendly with Chahal in spite of the teasing.
“After moving on and calmly accepting everything, we now wish each other well. Yuzi and I communicate via messages as well. She remarked, “He used to call me maa; he is just sweet.”
She did, however, also address Chahal’s earlier podcast implication that their relationship had become phoney.
“We say “personal life” for a reason. It must be confidential. There are two sides to a coin. The fact that I am not speaking does not give anyone the authority to use it. She stated on Humans of Bombay, “It’s over, please move on.”
