At least one person was killed and numerous more were injured in a horrifying blast at the Kausar Cricket Ground in Khar, in the Pakistan province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The explosion is said to have occurred sometime in the evening of Saturday, September 6. A police policeman and a bystander named Najeeb Khan were among the injured, and a car parked close by was also hit.
Police authorities from the local district attested to the fact that the explosion was a prearranged, targeted act that was done specifically to instill fear in the community. Nonetheless, the injured individuals were transported to the Khar-based hospital or hospitals thanks to the prompt efforts of the police. Israr Khan, the public relations officer for the Bajaur District, explained that the terrorists attempted to strike the location again but were unsuccessful since they failed to hit their goal.
Waqas Rafique, the Bajaur District Police Officer, reported that an improvised explosive device (IED) was used in the terrorist attack. Moneycontrol quotes Rafique as saying, “It looks like a targeted attack.”
