Stuart Broad wants break for jaded England stars

“I’d be tempted to send Ben Duckett and Joe Root up the M1 instead of down to Southampton now that you’ve lost the series,” Stuart Broad stated on Sky Sports.

On Thursday, September 4, the Three Lions suffered their sixth series defeat in their previous seven bilateral series, adding to England’s problems in the 50-over format.

England lost the second ODI at Lord’s by a slim margin of five runs after being completely destroyed in the first match against South Africa at Headingley. Although England could have easily won the match, the Three Lions have now lost 21 of their previous 31 One-Day Internationals, demonstrating that they have become a shell of their former dominant self.

In the current South Africa ODIs, the hosts have appeared to be ghosts, according to retired England bowler Stuart Broad.

This is especially true given that many of their multi-format stars, like Ben Duckett and Joe Root, have already been exhausted by the schedule. He asked management to put them to bed right away.

“Two days later, they went right into the Hundred after playing 25 days of strong, hard cricket against India in a Test series. I believe there are some cynical people because they are currently playing a white-ball series and the winter is only getting busier. In all of cricket, I have never witnessed Ben Duckett fail to find the middle of the bat for so long.

In contrast to an energetic South Africa, Stuart Broad said the entire English team appeared to be lacking in vitality.

He stated, “I think the group is just tired, but I suppose we’re not quite sure what the game plan is.”

“I look at the bowlers’ and the field’s body language, and it felt pretty flat compared to the energy that Brevis or Tristan Stubbs bring to the group.”
