South Africa to play Tests in Pakistan after four years

An all-format tour to Pakistan and South Africa is shortly to be discussed. The last time the Proteas played a two-match Test series in Pakistan was in January and February of 2021.

There will be three ODIs after a two-match Test series, followed by three T20Is. According to The Express Tribune, the series is anticipated to air from October 12 to November 9.

The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the two Test matches from October 12–16, while Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host the matches from October 20–24. Rawalpindi will host the start of the white-ball series on October 28. The other two ODIs will take place at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on October 31 and November 2. The remaining Twenty20 International matches will be played in Lahore on November 8 and 9, with the first match scheduled for November 5 in Multan.

However, the schedule has been considered tentative for the time being and is still subject to confirmation following board talks.

Prior to the tour’s final permission, a South African group recently travelled to Pakistan to evaluate the logistical setup and security situation. The Multan venue was not inspected by the committee, which has caused some to question whether it will hold a fixture.

Under Quinton de Kock’s leadership, the Proteas lost 1-2 in T20Is and were thrashed in the Test series during their most recent trip to Pakistan, which took place in January and February of 2021.

Earlier this year, in May, the Iqbal Stadium was supposed to host two Twenty20 International matches against Bangladesh following a 17-year break. However, because to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) rescheduling, both games were moved to Lahore.
