Aakash Chopra, a former cricket player from India, believes Rishabh Pant deserves credit for his contributions. After hurting himself on the England tour, Pant suffered a fractured foot, which prevented him from competing in the next Asia Cup 2025. Since India won the T20 World Cup in 2024, however, the standout batsman-wicketkeeper has not played in T20Is because Jitesh Sharma and Sanju Samson have taken over as the team’s chosen candidates.
Whether playing in the middle or the top order, Pant’s outstanding T20I statistics were emphasized by Chopra.
The former cricket player who is now a broadcaster clarified metrics like average and strike rate, respectively. The Agra native also believed that, given his accomplishments in the T20 World Cup the previous year, Pant should have been included in the discussion of India’s most influential T20I hitters.
“It’s wonderful that Rishabh Pant has a strike rate of 156 and an average of 34 when batting from numbers 1 to 3. We won’t discuss the top three, though. He has an average of 30 and a strike rate of 140 when you look at numbers 4 through 7. In a video posted to his YouTube account, Chopra said, “It’s still okay.”
The fact that he was India’s third-highest run scorer in the T20 World Cup we won is the one thing that works in his favor, and I’m shocked that nobody brings it up. It appears as though a fly has been removed from milk and discarded. Nobody is discussing him. Naturally, one of the reasons could be the IPL’s lackluster performance, but it’s odd that he didn’t even bring it up,” he continued.
Due to a foot fracture, Pant was unable to bat in the second innings of the fourth Test and was thus unable to play for India in the fifth Test. He was left out of the 15-man Asia Cup 2025 roster because he has not yet fully recovered from the setback. A speedy recovery is what the Men in Blue will be hoping for. He should recover in time for the October home Test matches against the West Indies.
