‘You deserve to be sued’ – Sreesanth’s wife slams Lalit Modi, Clarke for sharing slapgate video

Shame on you, Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke. “You people are not even human to drag up something from 2008 for cheap publicity and views,” she said on Instagram on Friday.

'You deserve to be sued' - Sreesanth's wife slams Lalit Modi, Clarke for sharing slapgate video

By making public the previously unreleased video of the 2008 slapgate incident between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth during the first season of the Indian Premier League, Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke caused a stir on the internet. The ancient video quickly went viral and broke multiple news stories on one of the most contentious incidents in Indian cricket history.

After watching the video, Bhuvneshwari, Sreesanth’s wife, came forth and harshly denounced the act, calling it cheap and nasty, that the two had posted to YouTube for their own personal benefit. She went on to say that Sreesanth and Harbhajan had resolved their disagreements and had long since moved on. She shared the incident with the public on her official Instagram account, and it quickly gained widespread attention.

“Michael Clarke and Lalit Modi, you deserve shame. To bring up stuff from 2008 for your own cheesy fame and views is not even human. You want to drag Sreesanth and Harbhajan [Singh] back into an old wound even though they have both moved on and are now fathers with children enrolled in school. On Friday, August 29, she posted on her Instagram story, saying, “Absolutely disgusting, heartless, and inhuman.”

Bhuvneshwari added that her husband had to overcome several obstacles during his cricket career, but he did so with great elegance. She added that both athletes’ families, particularly their kids, find the online video extremely upsetting because they will be publicly questioned without being held accountable.

“After all of his struggles, Sreesanth has rebuilt his life with grace and dignity.

It is really upsetting for our family to witness this come up again after eighteen long years as his wife and the mother of his children. In order to pursue opinions, families are being made to relive suffering that was suppressed decades ago. The athletes are not the only ones harmed by this; their defenseless kids are also traumatized, forced to deal with guilt and inquiries for no fault of their own. You ought to face legal action for your egregious and cheap actions. No video can deprive Sreesanth of his dignity because he is a strong, moral man. Another story that day said, “Be afraid of God before you harm innocent children and families for your own benefit.”
