Mandeep Singh leaves Tripura before 2025-26 season

Mandeep Singh, a domestic veteran, has chosen to leave Tripura before the 2025–2026 domestic season, ending his one-year affiliation with the squad.

Mandeep Singh, who captained Tripura in all formats during the 2024–25 season, participated in seven Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy games, six Ranji Trophy games, and six Vijay Hazare Trophy games. Tripura had an outstanding season as an individual, despite not making it past the group stages in any of the three tournaments.

He scored five half-centuries and an undefeated 124 in the Ranji Trophy, surpassing the fifty-run threshold in each match. He also added two half-centuries in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the top domestic 20-over competition, and three fifties in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, with a high score of 94 against Bengal.

“I appreciate Tripura CA allowing me to play last season; I had a great experience there. On and off the pitch, I created some amazing memories. I hope the club has a successful forthcoming season. On Instagram, Mandeep Singh posted, “Looking forward to the next chapter.”

After 15 years with Punjab, Mandeep moved to Tripura in 2024. Last season, he commanded the team in all formats. He ended Punjab’s 30-year losing streak in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by leading the team to the championship in 2023–24. It is not yet known who he will play for in 2025–2026.

For the forthcoming season, India’s Hanuma Vihari, a batsman, has relocated from Andhra to Tripura. The 31-year-old has received a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Andhra Cricket Association, allowing his transfer. Despite playing 131 First-Class matches and representing India in 16 Test matches, Vihari has not yet been assured of the Tripura captaincy.

On October 15, Tripura, who will play in the Elite division of both red and white-ball forms in 2025–2026, will play Services in the Ranji Trophy to start the season.
