Filming for the highly anticipated movie on the renowned Indian captain Sourav Ganguly is anticipated to begin shortly. After Durga Puja, Rajkummar Rao, a versatile actor, would spend a month at Ganguly’s home in Kolkata to be ready for the part. This will probably make it easier for the actor to inhabit the role, observe Ganguly’s demeanour, and take notice of his mannerisms.
Rajkummar Rao has already started taking cricket lessons for this movie, but living with Ganguly is an extra step to ensure he plays the part flawlessly.
The 40-year-old is a fantastic fit for the character, and this exercise will only benefit him, says director Vikramaditya Motwane.
The project has been in the works for years and has a huge expenditure of INR 250 crore. The film crew, which includes Luv Films producer Ankur Garg, has previously visited famous cricketing locations like Eden Gardens and Dukhiram Cricket Coaching Centre as part of their intensive location research in Kolkata. Additionally, they spent time in Sourav Ganguly house, noting the areas that hold special meaning for him.

The difficulties of reenacting a story that took place twenty years ago were brought up by director Vikramaditya Motwane. In order to make sure the movie appeals to both cricket enthusiasts and others who are not familiar with that heyday of Indian cricket, he underlined the importance of striking a balance between nostalgia and amusement.
“The period setting will be the biggest obstacle. It’s always difficult because that was twenty to twenty-five years ago. It’s considerably more difficult to make it entertaining for the broader audience. If the audience doesn’t know the history, you want them to be able to relate to the story without feeling lost. The secret is to find that medium ground. While we had Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, and Dada ( Sourav Ganguly) as part of that golden age of Indian cricket, some of the younger audience did not. According to Revsportz, he stated, “You have to make the film appealing to everyone, not just the fans.”
Sourav Ganguly cricket career and leadership, which revolutionised Indian cricket in the early 2000s, will be the focus of the biography. The majority of the film’s production will take place in Kolkata and Mumbai, with additional overseas shoots planned in England and Australia. Notably, after Mohammad Azharuddin and MS Dhoni, this will be the third biography about an Indian captain.
