Following his hernia operation, Indian left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed gave Irfan Pathan a lot of gratitude for helping him. Khaleel Ahmed also disclosed that he has been working tirelessly to establish himself as a consistent player on the global stage. Notably, Khaleel has already participated in 18 T20Is and 11 ODIs.
Khaleel Ahmed also thanked veteran left-arm bowler Zaheer Khan for being approachable and for insightful advice on enhancing his red-ball skills.
“After surgery, I had to start from scratch, including learning how to walk.” I spent a lot of time with Irfan bhai. He helped me hone my skills and me how to maintain the seam upright. I also received advice from him and Zaheer bhai on how to succeed in red-ball cricket. According to ESPNcricinfo, Khaleel Ahmed said, “I am fortunate and grateful to have had them available whenever I wanted to speak to them.”
Khaleel Ahmed emphasised the many nuances of multi-day cricket that a fast bowler like him must regularly take into account and adhere to. He also disclosed another ability he has recently been attempting to acquire.
“I was really conscious of my fitness. I also made an effort to pick up some abilities, such as late swinging. I was trying to figure out how to succeed. There are numerous small things you need to improve when playing days cricket. In order to pass the test of bowling 20–25 overs in an innings, you must prepare your body. Then there are other aspects, like trip management. I have to take care of my body every day as a fast bowler, which includes getting enough sleep and recuperating. Distractions may occur, but you must take care of these fundamental tasks,” he continued.
Khaleel Ahmed went into further detail about his desire to represent the country. He also acknowledged that, in spite of his prior physical setbacks, he believes he has developed as a professional cricket player by gaining sufficient bowling experience.
“I’m being really patient while I work. All I’m doing is waiting for my opportunity. I must serve my nation. People quickly forget IPL performances, but the things you do for the nation stick with them forever. I’d like to compete internationally. For that, I am putting everything I have. There isn’t any more time for me. I am now focused on this. I’ve had mental difficulties. However, I’m currently going through a stage where I feel experienced. I think I’ll succeed in life. I feel much more grown up as a fast bowler. All that’s left is to wait for opportunities, and I will take advantage of them,” he said.
In July 2024, Khaleel made his final appearance for India. The 27-year-old has not yet made his international Test debut. Khaleel is a part of the Central Zone team’s squad. It is anticipated that he would play in the Duleep Trophy 2025 quarterfinal.
