After a lengthy injury layoff, Jammu and Kashmir express pacer Umran Malik made a great comeback to competitive cricket by making an impression at the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association’s All India Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament. In the second match against Odisha CA, the speedster, who had missed the tournament opener against Railways, looked completely healthy and played a blazing stint.
Malik announced his return early on by taking consecutive wickets. Before dismissing captain Subhranshu Senapati for a first-ball duck when an inside edge smashed onto the stumps, he first removed opener OM T Munde with a stinging in-swinger that shook the stumps.

After Jammu and Kashmir won the toss, Odisha batted first and amassed a respectable total of more than 200 runs. With 74 off 121 balls, Govind Poddar led the innings, and Kartik Biswal and Rajesh Dhupar both made significant half-centuries.
The goal is to play for India once more: Umran Malik
After missing the entire 2024–25 season due to illness and injury, the young pacer’s performance was a major step towards his recovery. In order to regain rhythm before the Ranji Trophy, the pacer is now concentrating on taking advantage of his chances in the Buchi Babu competition.
Naturally, it’s satisfying to recuperate quickly and resume bowling, which I always like to do. My mantra for staying motivated during the recuperation phase was to get back to cricket. I had a series of practices in Kashmir prior to coming here (to Chennai), including proper bowling sessions that made me feel completely fit. My current goal is to play Ranji and create memorable performances so that I may represent India once more, Umran Malik had stated, as reported by The Telegraph.
Umran Malik, who has taken 13 ODI and 11 T20I wickets for India, will now want to get back into the swing of things and make a strong return to the national team. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in March of the 2024 season, which was his final IPL appearance.
