The India women’s cricket squad will assemble in Visakhapatnam for a week-long conditioning camp beginning August 25 with over a month to go until the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
At the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, India will play two important games: one against Australia on October 12 and one against South Africa on October 9. Remarkably, just three members of the current team—Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Sneh Rana—have played at this stadium before, back in 2014. The camp is anticipated to be crucial for acclimatisation and strategy-building, as the majority of the team is not familiar with the conditions of the venue.
Notably, Bengaluru was the original location of the training sessions. However, the camp was moved to Visakhapatnam because the Karnataka State Cricket Association was unable to obtain police authorisation for matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Camp will wrap after two intra-squad matches.
All of India’s World Cup players, including reserves and India A players selected for warm-up matches, will be present at the camp. Throughout the week, the emphasis will be on skill-based training, improving match tactics, and adjusting to Vizag’s playing conditions. Two intra-squad day-night practice matches will wrap up the camp.
This training is a component of India’s World Cup preparations. The Women in Blue will go to New Chandigarh for a three-match ODI series against Australia beginning on September 16 following the Visakhapatnam camp. The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium will host the first two matches, while the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi will host the final One-Day International.
India will play two official World Cup warm-up matches in Bengaluru after the ODI series: against England on September 25 and New Zealand on September 27. In the meantime, India and Sri Lanka will play their inaugural match in Guwahati on September 30 to begin the tournament. After the India-Pakistan match in Colombo on October 5, the team will travel back to Vizag for their doubleheader against Australia and South Africa.
