Virender Sehwag, a former offensive opener, is optimistic about India’s prospects at the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025, where Suryakumar Yadav will serve as captain. Notably, Suryakumar was selected as captain of India’s 15-man team for the forthcoming major tournament, which also features players like Jasprit Bumrah, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya.
Sehwag claimed that the Indian team heading to the United Arab Emirates for the next regional tournament has a mix of youthful players and seasoned players who can work together to defeat any competition in the world. The former Delhi batsman also believes that Suryakumar Yadav’s aggressive and brave leadership can enable them to win the competition, which will be played in the 20-over style this time.
“Under Surya’s bold leadership, this Indian team can once again rule Asia since they have the ideal balance of youth and experience. Sehwag stated on Sony Sports Network, “I have no doubt India can lift the trophy if the team plays with the same intent. His attacking mindset suits the T20 format perfectly.”
For the uninitiated, the Men in Blue will compete against teams like Pakistan, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates in Group A of the forthcoming championship. On September 10, they will play their first match of the season at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium against the United Arab Emirates. Four days later, they would remain in Dubai for a crucial match against bitter rivals Pakistan. Finally, on September 19, they will play Oman to conclude their group stage.
