Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricket player, has offered his thoughts on why MS Dhoni would decline to take on the role of head coach for the Indian cricket team in the future. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, Dhoni served as India’s coach.
Aakash Chopra believed that after spending so many years in a demanding cricketing atmosphere, Dhoni—and most players, for that matter—would not want to be involved in the thick of things again.
“That is a significant one. He’s not interested, in my opinion. The job of a coach is challenging. Being a coach keeps you just as busy as playing, and occasionally even busier. In a video posted on his YouTube account, Aakash Chopra said, “You have a family, and you claim that you have done the same thing your entire life, that you have lived your life out of a suitcase, and that you don’t want to do that job now.”
Dhoni would not want to spend that much time coaching at the sacrifice of family time, according to the cricket player-turned-commentator.
Because of this, many players choose not to become coaches, and even those that do only serve a two-month IPL term. However, if you decide to work as an Indian head coach full-time, you will be committed for ten months out of the year. Dhoni might not have that much time, in my opinion. If he has that much time, I’ll be shocked,” he continued.
It has been eight years since Kuldeep Yadav last participated in a game. He will age: Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra also discussed Kuldeep Yadav’s present standing in international cricket in the same video. The 47-year-old drew attention to Kuldeep’s extended absence from the Test team during away matches. Notably, Kuldeep did not play in any of India’s five Test matches against England in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which ended recently. Many commentators and former cricket players believed he should have been included in the starting lineup.
“You must sympathise with Kuldeep Yadav. You are not a true fan of Indian cricket if you don’t. The head coach, Ravi Shastri, claimed he was our top spinner abroad after he took six wickets in a Test match in Sydney in 2019. He has only participated in one Test match away from home since. I feel a great deal of surprise, disappointment, and mild annoyance. It has been eight years since he played in a match. “He’ll grow old,” Aakash Chopra noted.
