Venkatesh Prasad, a former pacer for India, will run in the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections, which are tentatively set for October through November. Prasad, who was KSCA vice-president from 2013 to 2016 while Anil Kumble was president, has a wealth of coaching, selection, and administrative experience. Since then, he has mostly avoided administration in order to concentrate on his coaching profession. He also works as a commentator and pundit in the media.
Previously, Venkatesh Prasad served as a bowling coach for Punjab Kings, formerly known as Kings XI Punjab, during the 2006–07 season. Vinay Mruthyunjaya, a seasoned administrator, will be with him.
Mruthyunjaya is a member of the BCCI Finance Committee and a former treasurer of the KSCA. In the upcoming days, Prasad and Mruthyunjaya are anticipated to reveal their entire panel. On September 30, the current state association government, led by Raghuram Bhatt, is scheduled to leave office.
Following a terrible stampede that killed 11 lives near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 victory celebrations, the current group of officials is being questioned. Following the state cabinet’s decision to drop criminal charges against association executives, senior RCB employees, and the event management company DNA, association secretary Shankar A and treasurer ES Jairam resigned, accepting moral responsibility.
Following the submission of the Justice D’Cunha Commission’s conclusions to the state High Court and the government, legal processes are still under progress. If everything goes as planned, Mruthyunjaya might take back the secretary and treasurer positions, which are now unfilled.
Planning for the CAB president, Sourav Ganguly
It’s also important to note that former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who was also the BCCI president and captained Prasad, is anticipated to return to government as he is expected to nominate himself for president in the next Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) elections.
