The future of Rohit Sharma, whose position in the team has been the focus of growing conjecture, was also subtly hinted at in the film. Despite being a member of the team, Rohit was not included in the final’s playing XI.
With his Independence Day message, Indian Test vice-captain Rishabh Pant went viral among fans once more. Pant posted a clean, never-before-seen candid footage of India winning the 2025 Champions Trophy in Dubai along with his well wishes and condolences for the event.
Following Ravindra Jadeja’s boundary to seal the victory, Rishabh Pant video captured the jubilant reactions of Mohammed Shami, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill in the changing room. Before Pant turned his camera to the rest of the squad, the atmosphere was set with warm embraces and high fives.
Along with light-hearted banter between Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and others, the video also featured an emotional embrace between captain and coach Gautam Gambhir. At the end, the wicketkeeper-batter was observed listening carefully to the older opener, and he did not pass up the opportunity to mock Rohit.
“Kya?” Lelu, retirement? Is it true that you are retiring, let alone rahunga? (What was that? Do I have to retire? In the video, the Indian captain said, “I can’t keep retiring every time we win!” on X.
“Hum to chahte hai khelo, maine nahi bola bhai!” (Brother, I didn’t say that. We want you to continue playing,” the batsman-wicketkeeper answered.

Nowadays, there is a lot of conjecture surrounding Rohit Sharma retirement.
After leading India to the 2024 T20 World Cup championship, the Nagpur native announced his retirement from Test cricket in May of this year. In the meanwhile, after India defeated New Zealand in the Champions Trophy, speculation swiftly centred on whether he would also abandon ODIs, the format in which he has had the greatest success.
Rohit hasn’t played competitive cricket in a number of months, as India doesn’t have any ODI matches until October. According to recent speculations, in order to be considered for future ODI selection and, more significantly, the forthcoming 50-over World Cup in 2027, the BCCI may urge both Rohit and Kohli to compete in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
