Karun Nair, an Indian batsman, commended head coach Gautam Gambhir for providing the players with a lot of support and motivation throughout the five-Test England tour. With several veterans retiring from the red-ball format, the Anderson–Tendulkar series signalled a turning point for India, which is currently captained by Shubman Gill.
India managed a gruelling 2-2 tie in England after losing 1-3 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia after ten years and losing 3-0 at home to New Zealand, ending their 12-year winning streak.
Prioritising the team and trying to defeat England at home were the main goals from the beginning, according to Karun Nair.
He scored 205 runs at an average of 25.62 in eight games, with just one fifty, to end the series. Despite having a successful domestic season, Karun Nair struggled to build on his promising starts when he returned to international cricket after an eight-year break. He was unable to parlay scores in the 30s and 40s into significant innings.
“The series’ main objective was to accomplish something exceptional as a group. As the series went on, [everyone] must have realised how inspiring it was to witness this message from him from the very beginning and how much they all got into it. We received a lot of support and encouragement from Gauti bhai. He truly gave me the courage to go out there and give it my all, and I can attest to that. Therefore, the main goal was to play as I know how and represent the squad in every circumstance,” Karun Nair told Revsportz.
In the future, India’s red-ball squad will host the home series against South Africa and the West Indies. In order to prepare for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, the Indian team will first play in the 2025 Asia Cup, which will start on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) under a T20I format.
