The Lucknow Regional Transport Office has notified Akash Deep about his new SUV. After his successful England tour, Deep bought the car after returning to India.
The Monday, August 11 notification prohibited the car from being driven due to incomplete registration. The car lacks the HSRP and third registration mark.
The notification requires Akash Deep to appear before authorities within 72 hours.
“The RTO observed that the temporary registration and registration certificate process remained incomplete on the Vahan portal,” the Times of India reported on Akash Deep’s August 7 vehicle purchase.
After buying the car, it was insured on August 8. He got a fancy registration number (UP32 QW 0041) on August 9.
“The notice warns that driving the vehicle in its current state is illegal under Section 192 of the MVA and empowers authorities to seize or detain it under Section 207,” the officials wrote.
Akash Deep or his authorised agent must attend the Lucknow RTO office within the specified deadline. Registration, insurance, and tax payment records must also be presented.
The Lucknow RTO delivered a show-cause notice to the Chinhat, Uttar Pradesh, auto business. The authorities reportedly suspended the car dealer.
“The defaulting dealer will face legal action under Sections 192 and 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act,” the notification added.
Deep was crucial to India’s 2-2 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 draw. He took 13 wickets in three matches and bowled 109.1 overs. He also scored 66 runs in the final Test, helping the side win by six runs at The Oval.
