Fast bowler Matt Henry of New Zealand has achieved a career-high third position after helping his team defeat Zimbabwe by 359 runs and innings in the second Test in Bulawayo, completing a 2-0 series victory for the visiting team.
After finishing fourth in the first Test after crossing 800 rating points for the first time, Matt Henry Canterbury player continued to rise with five for 40 and two for 16 in the second Test to win Player of the Series.
On the list headed by Jasprit Bumrah (889 rating points), Matt Henry is now only five points behind Kagiso Rabada (846 rating points). Another New Zealand bowler to thrive is debutant Zakary Foulkes, who entered the rankings at an amazing 61st place thanks to his nine-wicket match performance.
Henry Nicholls (150 not out), Devon Conway (153) and Rachin Ravindra (165), three New Zealand batsmen who all scored significant hundreds during the game, have also made significant progress. Nicholls has climbed six spots to 47th rank, opener Conway has gone from 44th to 37th, and Ravindra has risen 15 spots to 23rd. After hitting 47 not out in the second innings, Zimbabwean batsman Nick Welch is among the top 100.
After hitting back-to-back half-centuries in the opening two games of the home series against South Africa, Australia’s Tim David has returned to the top 10 in the T20I Rankings, while Cameron Green has risen from 23rd to 17th place.
Dewald Brevis, a South African batsman, is the greatest mover. His spectacular 125 not out off 56 balls in the second game moved him up 80 spots to a career-high 21st position, while his teammate Tristian Stubbs moved up 12 spots to 27th place.
West Indies spinner Gudakesh Motie (up five places to 12th), seamer Jayden Seales (up 24 places to 33rd), and Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed (up three places to 54th) have advanced in the bowling rankings of the ODI Rankings, which take into account performances in the first two games of the West Indies-Pakistan series. Meanwhile, Evin Lewis of the West Indies (up nine places to 82nd) and Abdullah Shafique of Pakistan (up seven places to 90th) have risen in the batting rankings.
