Mustafizur Rahman, a pacer for Bangladesh, has signed with the defending champion Dubai Capitals and will make his International League T20 (ILT20) debut. The left-arm fast bowler will take the position of England pacer Luke Wood in the team’s roster, the team announced on social media on Tuesday, August 12. The top cricket player from Bangladesh will be attending the event in the United Arab Emirates for the first time.
With appearances in big competitions including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Lanka Premier League (LPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), and England’s Vitality Blast, the 29-year-old is a well-known figure in franchise cricket. Six teams will compete in the fourth edition of the ILT20, which is hosted by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and will take place from December 2 to January 4.
It is unclear, though, if Mustafizur Rahman would be given the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to play because the ILT20 dates conflict with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) season.

All-rounders Dasun Shanaka and Gulbadin Naib, bowler Dushmantha Chameera, and important West Indies players Shai Hope and Rovman Powell have also been added to the Dubai Capitals’ roster. With 362 wickets at an average of 21.49 and an economy rate of 7.45 in 289 games, Mustafizur Rahman has an outstanding T20 record. Six four-wicket hauls and four five-wicket hauls are included in his total.
Mustafizur was purchased by the Delhi Capitals for INR 6 crores earlier in the 2025 Indian Premier League to replace Jake Fraser-McGurk. He participated in three games and claimed four wickets, including a high of 3/33. Mustafizur, who has played for the IPL franchises Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals, is making his sixth appearance in an international franchise league with this ILT20 deal.
With most teams keeping their key players, the next IPL auction is anticipated to be a mini-auction. However, the Delhi Capitals will have to put a new bid for Mustafizur Rahman if they want to maintain him because of the amended replacement regulations.
