In addition to being their first victory over Pakistan in Twenty20 Internationals since 2017, it was also the first time Pakistan had suffered a defeat in a three-game series against the West Indies.

Pakistan and the West Indies have played 137 matches in One-Day Internationals. The West Indies has won 71 and Pakistan has won 63. In spite of this, the West Indies’ performance against Pakistan in the ODI series has been poor. They last defeated Pakistan in a home series back in 1988.

The last time the West Indies defeated Pakistan in an ODI at home was in 2017. Six three-match ODI series have been played between the two teams thus far. Four of them have been won by Pakistan. A three-match home series versus Pakistan has never been won by the West Indies. Their only series victories came in Pakistan in 1980 and 1991.
