Following India’s thrilling victory against England in the fifth game of their ICC World Test Championship series at The Oval to tie the series 2-2, fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has soared to a career-best 15th position.
Following his Player of the Match performance of nine for 190, which included three of the four wickets to fall on the last day, including the decisive dismissal of Gus Atkinson, Mohammed Siraj has risen twelve spots. India won the Test by six runs, the smallest margin of victory in Test history.
The two became just the second Indian pair to take four or more wickets each in both innings of a Test, a feat previously achieved by spinners Bishan Bedi and Erapalli Prasanna against Australia in Delhi in 1969.
Mohammed Siraj improved on his 16th-place finish from January 2024, while his teammate Prasidh Krishna also achieved a career-best 59th position.
Josh Tongue and Atkinson, both fast bowlers for England, finished the game with eight wickets apiece, setting new career records. Tongue is up 14 spots to 46th place, and Atkinson is in the top 10 for the first time.
New Zealand seam bowler Matt Henry’s nine wickets in the first Test of the two-match series between Zimbabwe and New Zealand in Bulawayo, which the visiting team won by nine wickets, helped him reach a career-best fourth position and cross the 800 rating point mark for the first time in the most recent weekly rankings, which also take into account performances in that match.

Sufiyan Muqeem, a left-arm wrist-spinner, has advanced 69 spots to joint-34th rank thanks to his economic spells, which saw him return figures of one for 20, one for 19, and one for 20. After winning Player of the Series with three wickets apiece in the first two games, Mohammad Nawaz has moved up 51 spots to 56th place.
