Bumrah’s hype is big, but India no longer rely on him – Monty Panesar

According to former English cricketer Monty Panesar, India has become less dependent on Jasprit Bumrah over time. This comes after Bumrah was not present for India’s two wins in the just finished Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj might both open the bowling in Test matches, according to Panesar.

“This Indian squad is no longer reliant on Bumrah.

The buzz around Bumrah is enormous, but let’s face it—India has a potent bowling attack. With each Test match, Krishna continues to improve. He can open the bowling with Siraj, in my opinion. According to Mid-Day, Panesar said, “They just need a third seamer, Akash Deep, Arshdeep Singh, or someone else.”

The 43-year-old suggested to the management that Siraj should be the focal point of the bowling attack, with the right-arm fast serving as its mainstay.

“Bumrah is undoubtedly a talented bowler, but he was not involved in India’s victories [in this series].” Therefore, I don’t believe they rely on him as much. Siraj made excellent use of the circumstances. For Indian cricket, he is a tremendous asset. Panesar continued, “I believe he is now leading the attack, and India needs to build the attack around him.”

Siraj took 23 wickets in nine innings at an average of 32.43, making him the series’ top wicket-taker. After India levelled the series at The Oval with a six-run victory, he was named Player of the Match.

Career-best match totals of 9/190 (4/86 and 5/104) and 8/188 (4/62 and 4/122) were recorded by Siraj and Prasidh, respectively. One of the main reasons the Shubman Gill-led team was able to keep the title was because of their aggressive pace bowling.

Siraj has received a great deal of appreciation for his unwavering perseverance in running in to bowl, regardless of how many bowlers he has bowled at any given time. During the five games, he bowled 185.3 overs in total.
