Mohammed Siraj’s exceptional bowling performance in the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England has been praised by former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri. Siraj finished with statistics of 4/86 after taking a vital four wickets on Day 2 at The Oval in London.
Siraj took over as the leader of the Indian speed assault since Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the game. By dismissing Joe Root, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, and Ollie Pope, he cut England’s lead in the first innings to just 23 runs. Shastri said the bowler has been giving it his best since the start of the England series and commended Siraj for his consistent work during the tour.
“He’s got a million dollar smile. He’s a deputy superintendent of police in Hyderabad. And in Hyderabad, everyone will say, ‘Miyan this guy has bowled like a lion.’ With a lion’s heart, he’s performed in this series, in Test matches, even when Bumrah is not there, he’s given his heart out. And he’s a trier. From day one, I’ve seen him, he gives his everything,” Shastri said on Sky Sports.

Siraj is now the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy’s top wicket-taker with 18 wickets in the series. Additionally, he made history by being the first bowler from India to record multiple four-wicket hauls at The Oval during Test matches. The right-arm pacer’s enthusiasm and intensity during the match were praised by Shastri. He pointed out that Siraj’s stock delivery, which always caused problems for the English hitters, made him especially dangerous.
