'Siraj steps up without Bumrah' – Aakash Chopra

With Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep at the helm, speedster Mohammed Siraj is spearheading the pace attack in Bumrah’s absence. Siraj got four wickets in the first innings, demonstrating his incredible skill with the ball and ensuring that the visiting squad did not even notice Bumrah’s absence. Jasprit Bumrah was rested due to his workload management issues, therefore India did not have him for the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

Aakash Chopra, a former cricket player, was particularly impressed by Siraj’s ability to consistently bowl longer stretches and give the ball his all. Interestingly, Siraj’s bowling average stays at 35.00 when Bumrah is playing, but the statistics completely shift as the Hyderabadi native takes wickets at 25.59 when his senior bowling partner isn’t there.

Siraj may go for a few runs, but Chopra keeps to his strategy of bowling longer stretches.

When Bumrah isn’t around, he performs better. It wasn’t a good start. They were being struck. It looked like a green top and batting was really tough when we were playing, but when they arrived, it appeared to have turned into a road. At seven or eight runs per over, they were hitting. On his YouTube channel, Chopra stated, “That was dangerous.”

He may be struggling as a bowler, getting hit for runs, occasionally wandering down the leg, or giving up runs at a higher economy rate. Siraj may struggle with these things, which happens to everyone, but have you ever witnessed him bowl at 70%? The former cricket player turned broadcaster went on to ask, “Has there ever been an instance where Siraj did not give the game his all when he was bowling?”

With 18 wickets in just eight innings, Mohammed Siraj became the series’ leading wicket-taker, making his four-fer a noteworthy personal milestone for the pacer. After the hosts had a white-ball-like start to their innings, India was able to dismiss England for just 247 thanks to his blazing spell. England took a slim 23-run lead, but it gave India a fantastic chance to score a lot in their second batting attempt and rely on Siraj’s abilities once more to finish off the match in a spectacular fashion. India will resume play at 75 for 2 on Day 3.
