Ambati Rayudu places Rohit Sharma above Virat Kohli among India’s best captains

In a recent blind challenge, Rohit Sharma was placed higher than Virat Kohli among Indian cricket leaders by former batter Ambati Rayudu. Although it wasn’t shocking that Rayudu chose MS Dhoni at the top, his choice to place Kohli fifth attracted a lot of attention.

Ambati Rayudu was given the task of ranking the cricket leaders of India without knowing which name will be called next. Ambati Rayudu ranked Sourav Ganguly as number three at the top of his list. He then ranked Kapil Dev, the captain who won the 1983 World Cup, fourth.

When Rohit’s name appeared third, Rayudu put him at number two right away. Following years of playing with Rohit at the Mumbai Indians and with the Indian squad, as well as Rohit’s accomplishments as a leader, the veteran made this decision.

The former placed Virat fifth when his name was called. Rayudu thought that Kohli’s lack of ICC awards contributed to the lower rating, even if he acknowledged Kohli’s excellence as a Test cricket captain. India achieved great success in bilateral series and Test matches under Kohli’s leadership, and they held the top spot in the ICC Test rankings for a record 42 months.

The famous MS Dhoni was ranked first, with Mohammad Azharuddin in sixth place. Ambati Rayudu and Dhoni have a long-standing relationship that dates back to their time with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and India.

India won the 2011 ODI World Cup, the 2013 Champions Trophy, and the 2007 T20 World Cup under Dhoni’s captaincy. In 332 games as India’s captain, he won 178.

Ambati Rayuduultimate ranking was as follows:

Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev, and (5) Virat Kohli (6) Azharuddin, Muhammad
