In response to the recent issue surrounding veteran pacer Taskin Ahmed, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has organised a brief workshop for national cricket players in August. The goal of the session is to inform athletes about their obligations, public persona, and expected conduct as well-known athletes.
Taskin was accused of assault and threats in a General Diary (GD) filed against him at the Mirpur Model Police Station on Monday. The cricketer’s alleged boyhood friend, Sifatur Rahman Sourave, filed the complaint. Police investigations state that Taskin allegedly called Sifatur to the scene, punched him, and threatened him during the alleged altercation, which happened on Sunday night close to Sony Cinema Hall in Dhaka.
Police are presently looking into the situation. Officer-in-Charge Sajjadur Rahman affirmed that additional information is being gathered and the case is being investigated. The event really happened in the Asad Gate neighbourhood, under Mohammadpur Thana, not Mirpur as first reported, according to later reports.
Iftekhar Ahmed, the head of the BCB media and communication committee, responded to the news by saying that the board will not take any disciplinary action until the legal procedure is over.
“First, let Taskin’s guilt be established. A case has been filed, and an investigation will be conducted. Now, it’s past the cricket board. Taskin claims he had nothing to do with it. Police will now look into it because there was a GD. Let’s wait until the outcome is known,” Iftekhar stated.

In the meanwhile, BCB has chosen to hold a workshop in August in response to this occurrence and the growing attention being paid to players’ off-field conduct. The main goal of the session is to inform national players about their behaviour, societal obligations, and the standards associated with their public personas.
“We are planning to hold a short workshop with national cricketers in August as we feel we must remind them what they can do and what they cannot, considering they are not only cricketers rather they are also idols of many youngsters and are being followed by the,m so they have some accountability towards their fans,” he stated.
Notably, the pacer reacted on his official Facebook page, saying the matter had been exaggerated and that the accusations were untrue. He told followers that the truth was different and asked them not to trust the rumours that were going around.
