Nitish Kumar Reddy in legal row as agency sues over ₹5 crore unpaid dues

After his former agent filed a petition against him, demanding more than INR 5 crore in outstanding debts, Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is currently facing legal issues.

Nitish Kumar connection with his previous agency, Square The One, ended during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024–25, according to people acquainted with the situation. After that, the player signed a contract with the manager of another Indian cricket player who was on the tour.

Under Section 11(6) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, player management company Square The One Private Limited has filed a case, claiming non-payment of dues and a breach of the management agreement. The Delhi High Court is set to hear the matter on July 28.

In order to settle disputes pertaining to the player’s claimed illegal breach of contract and unpaid invoices, the petition asks for the appointment of an impartial arbiter.

According to people close to the situation, Square The One had been Nitish Kumar agent since 2021, before he became well-known in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Over the course of their four-year collaboration, the firm helped the cricket player secure numerous brand endorsements and business deals.

Ninety percent of these conflicts are settled out of court in private. However, in this instance, Nitish Kumar refused to make any payments and asserted that he had negotiated the arrangements on his own, according to a source cited by India Today.

Since making an outstanding Test debut in the BGT, Reddy has encountered challenges. During the IPL 2025 season, he had a dismal stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad. He participated in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and increased his bowling workload prior to the Test series against England, despite having an injury during the IPL.

In two games, he took three wickets and scored 45 runs. However, he sustained a significant knee injury that kept him out of action for the rest of the season after playing in the Lord’s and Birmingham Tests.
