Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif thinks Jasprit Bumrah may retire after the England-India Test series. Kaif believed Bumrah could accept the summons because to his inability to serve the nation.
Kaif’s comments followed Bumrah’s fitness and workload difficulties. In the Manchester Test, the former Indian batter saw Bumrah over-exerting himself while bowling and appearing unfit.
I doubt Jasprit Bumrah will play in the forthcoming Tests. He may retire. Body issues plague him. His body is done. His Manchester Test speeds were modest. Speed is absent in this Test match. This man is unselfish. If he feels he cannot give 100% for the country, win the match, or score wickets, he will refuse. This is my gut feeling,” Kaif said in an X video.
He also warned Indian cricketers to adjust to life without Jasprit Bumrah in red-ball.
“He throws the ball 125-130 kph. His enthusiasm remains. His body has defeated him. Fitness defeated him. Body doesn’t support him. His failure in this Test match suggests that I expect trouble in Test matches. No one may see him play. Indian fans, adjust without Bumrah. Kaif said you’ll have to adjust to watching Test matches without him.
Bumrah struggled in the match against England. The frontline pacer’s speeds have fallen significantly from earlier in the series. Day 3 saw him bowl most of his overs at 130-135 kph. One time, he staggered off after bowling one over with the second new ball.
If England doesn’t get bowled out or declare on the fourth day, Bumrah will concede 100 runs in a Test innings for the first time. India trail the hosts by 186 runs heading into the penultimate day.
