During the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford, Manchester, England veteran Joe Root passed South Africa great Jacques Kallis to become the third-highest Test run-scorer. Root has 13,290 Test runs, closing up on former Australia captain Ricky Ponting’s 13,378.
Joe Root is in great form in the series against India, scoring over 250 runs, including a century and a half.
With his last effort, he became the first batsman to score 1,000 Test runs at Old Trafford.
Root becomes only the third England hitter to score 1,000+ Test runs at two locations. After scoring 2,166 runs at Lord’s, he joins Alastair Cook and Graham Gooch at The Oval.
