Shubman Gill’s captaincy reminds Sunil Gavaskar of a different leadership trio, not Rohit, Kohli or Dhoni

According to former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, Shubman Gill’s leadership style is a combination of three previous Indian captains. It’s interesting to note that according to the great cricketer, neither Rohit Sharma nor Virat Kohli nor MS Dhoni were.

All three had the trait of having guided India to victory in a Test series in England.

“It may be important to remember that India has only won three Test series in England. under Ajit Wadekar in 1971, Kapil Dev in 1986, and Rahul Dravid in 2007. The three of them were the most awesome skippers anyone could ask for. “The straightforward approach of Wadekar, the ferocious yet restrained style of Kapil, and the intense and deliberate approach of Dravid,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Mid-Day.

Gavaskar continued by describing the specific scenes in the series that gave Shubman Gill the impression of being a combination of Rahul Dravid, Kapil Dev, and Ajit Wadekar.

Regardless of the circumstance, these three never seemed agitated, and their serene assurance was contagious. In Birmingham, Shubman Gill resembled a combination of these three. rip-roaring and reflective as his bowlers tore through the England batting in both innings, scoring a century and a double-century. “It was intense and iconic,” Gavaskar said.

Shubman Gill is playing his maiden Test match as a full-time skipper during the current England vs. India series. He is presently topping both sides’ run-scoring rankings with 607 runs in six innings at an incredible average of 101.16, despite having a lacklustre performance at Lord’s.

After losing by five wickets and 22 runs in the first and third Test matches, respectively, the Shubman Gill-led team is now behind England 2-1. The Indian team’s victory at Edgbaston was outstanding. Gill scored 269 and 161, respectively, breaking numerous records.

The start of the fourth Test is set for Wednesday, July 23. Manchester’s Old Trafford will host the highly anticipated match.
