Pakistan's Imam-ul-Haq replaces Ruturaj Gaikwad at Yorkshire

Ruturaj Gaikwad, a standout for India and CSK, had to cancel his County Championship contract with Yorkshire County Club for personal reasons that were not disclosed. This compelled the team, which had been searching for a possible ace batter replacement. Imam-ul-Haq, Pakistan’s top-order batsman, appears to have finally been identified by the Yorkshire team as a substitute.

Imam-ul-Haq, who previously played in the County Championship for Somerset Club, will now be representing a new team, assuming the contract goes through, according to a report by The Cricketer. He has not yet been confirmed for his time with the team, but his previous experience playing in English circumstances will make him a tremendous asset.

Interestingly, Ruturaj Gaikwad hasn’t played cricket since he had to withdraw halfway through the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to an elbow fracture, which forced the team to ask MS Dhoni to take the helm once more.

Despite being a part of India, the Pune-born He apparently had not fully healed from the injury, therefore he was unable to play on a trip of England.

Imam might be able to return to the international circuit after an outstanding Yorkshire spell.

After being gone from red-ball cricket for nearly five months, Imam will be excited to play for Yorkshire in his absence. He last represented Pakistan Television in a First-Class match in March, but his return was unsatisfactory. He was able to score nine runs in the first innings and twenty-one in the second, helping his team win by three wickets.

Due to poor form, the left-handed batter was dropped from the Pakistani national team’s most recent trips, further diminishing his popularity. The 29-year-old might regain his form and earn a spot on the international scene after an outstanding time with Yorkshire.
