In response to the persistent rumours about his connection with Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin has emphasised that envy is a result of an individual’s own thinking and viewpoint. On social media, there have been persistent rumours that Harbhajan has been envious of Ashwin’s achievements in Indian cricket.
Although Harbhajan Singh and Ashwin played for the national team in quite different eras, there has been persistent negative conjecture regarding their relationship despite the fact that India has produced two of the best off-spinners in contemporary cricket. The apparent hostility between Ashwin and Harbhajan was allayed recently when Ashwin, who retired as India’s second-highest wicket-taker, spoke with Harbhajan Singh.
“Let me explain something before I let you respond to this whole envy thing. Individuals view everything from their own point of view. In a trailer for “Kutti Stories” on his YouTube account, Ashwin stated, “For instance, if they are leaving a comment on me, they think that others would see the world through their eyes.”
“Their comments that you (Harbhajan) are jealous of this person who is interviewing you today (Ashwin), what would that be about, Bhajji pa?” He enquired.
Ashwin hinted that although some people might believe their opinions are shared by everyone, this is rarely the case in practice. Even if there had ever been jealousy between them, Ashwin said in response to a query posed by Harbhajan, such feelings may be considered normal in the cutthroat environment of international cricket. He went on to demonstrate this by bringing up a popular misconception among certain supporters that Washington Sundar’s ascent in the team’s hierarchy correlated with his own retirement.
Do you believe I’m envious of you? We’ve had a lengthy conversation while you’re sitting with me today. Do you believe that I am that type of person? Harbhajan Singh was asked.
“I believe it’s justified, even if you were jealous at one point. We are all human, thus I will never take anything incorrectly. That is my point. It will inevitably be like that. Some people think that because Washington Sundar is involved, I retired. This is all from other people’s perspectives,” Ashwin continued.
