In a 2025 T20 Blast match between Yorkshire and Lancashire in the North Group, James Anderson gave a bowling masterclass to take three wickets. In four overs, the former English legend finished with outstanding figures of 3/25.
All three of James Anderson wickets were catches on the fence, and he dismissed three of Yorkshire’s top four batsmen. The largest was that of Abdullah Shafique, who was well-set and fell on the fourth ball of the 15th over of the run-chase with a score of 54 off 34.

The wicket of Shafique came from a short delivery. At deep square leg, the hitter tried to hook the ball above the fielder, but Ashton Turner made a straightforward catch.
After that, Yorkshire was bowled out for 153 in 19.1 overs, and their innings simply fell apart. Among the two sides, James Anderson was the most economical bowler.
Jos Buttler’s 77 off 46 earlier in the game helped Lancashire reach a respectable total. During his innings, the wicketkeeper-batter hit three sixes and eight fours. In the 20th over of the first innings, Anderson and Buttler both fell on successive deliveries. Buttler’s boundary-laden knock earned him Player of the Match despite James Anderson outstanding performance.
With nine victories and five losses from 14 group-stage matches, Lancashire concluded their league phase. On Saturday, September 6, they will play Kent in the third quarterfinal. Manchester’s Old Trafford will host the game. The team captained by Keaton Jennings will be aiming for their second championship in the prestigious T20 competition as they enter the knockout stages.
