Farhan Ahmed, then 17 years old, made history by becoming the first player in Nottinghamshire’s history to record a hat-trick in T20 cricket. In the most recent Vitality Blast match at Trent Bridge, Nottinghamshire defeated Lancashire by an exciting four wickets because to the youthful off-spinner’s outstanding five-wicket performance.
Farhan Ahmed, the younger brother of Rehan Ahmed of England, had already garnered attention for his record-breaking red-ball exploits. He was the youngest player in Nottinghamshire’s first-class cricket team and later the youngest person in Britain to take ten wickets in a game.
Lancashire came into their last group-stage game under somewhat less pressure because they had already guaranteed a spot in the quarterfinals. However, Nottinghamshire, who had little chance of qualifying because of their low net run rate, were playing for dignity.
With Phil Salt and Keaton Jennings contributing 38 runs, Lancashire got off to a strong start after choosing to bat first.
Farhan Ahmed later took advantage of the twisting surface at Trent Bridge after Liam Patterson-White broke the opening stand.
After taking out Chris Green, he came back in the last over to produce an incredible hat-trick. He bowled Mitchell Stanley to complete his hat-trick, the first for Nottinghamshire in T20 cricket, after dismissing Luke Wood on the fourth delivery of the 20th over and then Tom Aspinwall. With his five-over total of 5–25, Lancashire was bowled out for 126.

With England spinner Tom Hartley taking four wickets in three overs, Nottinghamshire’s chase got off to the worst possible start. The crisis manager, however, was Tom Moores. Moores, who has been playing brilliantly this season, scored 75 off of just 42 balls.
A crucial 81-run partnership with Lyndon James (20) throughout his innings helped Notts get back into the game. Moores and Daniel Sams led the side home with ease, despite James falling when 32 was needed from 50 balls. Moores was finally run out with the score tied, but the team won by four wickets after sealing the match with the next ball.
