The nephew of legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli will continue the cricketing heritage. His nephew will play leg-spin in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) after the former Indian skipper retired from T20Is and Tests.
South Delhi Superstarz (SDS) bought Virat Kohli elder brother Vikas’ son Aryaveer for INR 1 lakh at the DPL 2025 auction.
Sarandeep Singh, former India cricketer and SDS coach, trained the 15-year-old. The coach said the young cricketer is promising and has no surname baggage.
“Aryaveer Kohli is rising. His age is young. The kid has no surname baggage. He’s an exceptional child. “He’s been practicing and working hard,” Sarandeep told News18.
West Delhi Cricket Academy trains Aryaveer.
Aryaveer spins legs instead of battering like his legendary uncle. Coach Raj Kumar Sharma helped the seasoned player improve at the West Delhi Cricket Academy. His South Delhi Superstarz teammates will include IPL great spinner Digvesh Rathi, one of the league’s highest-paid players (INR 38 lakh). Rathi and Priyansh Arya are also on the team.
Virat Kohli is only available for ODIs when in London with his wife and kids. The August Bangladesh series, currently postponed, was his scheduled return to Indian colours. However, reports suggest a short white-ball series with Sri Lanka during a similar phase. Virat attended Wimbledon with his wife, Anushka Sharma, to see Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur play in the Men’s Round of 16.
