England’s captain and cricket player, Ben Stokes, has been an inspiration. Experts and supporters alike have praised Ben Stokes for inspiring his colleagues to reach their full potential and for instilling in them a spirit of perseverance since he assumed captaincy of the England Test team.
Ben Stokes took the lead in the third Test match between England and India, bowling for extended periods of time, taking significant wickets with the ball, and leading the team admirably. In the most of the intense match at Lord’s, India controlled the proceedings. To take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series, Stokes and company, however, were unrelenting in their quest for victory and ultimately prevailed by 22 runs.
Michael Vaughan, the former captain of England, was very happy with Stokes’ choice to include Jofra Archer in the starting lineup for the match against India for the first time in four years.
Some of Ben Stokes’ pitch adjustments also impressed Vaughan.
Speaking on Cricbuzz, Vaughan remarked, “What he has done for the team and the way he has played this expansive game across Test match cricket for the number of years is phenomenal.”
Additionally, Vaughan said that under Stokes’ leadership, the Three Lions don’t lose many games. The all-rounder’s ability to perform well under duress was highlighted by the cricket player-turned-expert.
When Ben Stokes is playing, England doesn’t lose many cricket matches. I don’t believe I have ever witnessed Ben lose when the stakes were high and the game was close,” he continued.
Under Ben Stokes’ direction, England lost their first two home Ashes games in 2023. To equalise the score, though, they won two of the following three games. Later this year, England will play Australia in the Ashes. According to Vaughan, Stokes’ legacy as a player and leader shouldn’t be harmed even if England loses the series.
