Tensions between England starter Zak Crawley and the Indian squad increased as the third day of the ongoing Test match between India and England came to a furious conclusion. Since India’s first innings total of 387 was precisely equal to England’s, the game stayed tied and neither team had a first-innings lead.
With only one over remaining in the day, England came out to bat and scored two runs. The Indian fielders became irritated when Crawley cut off Jasprit Bumrah’s run-up halfway through the over after he had taken the new ball for India. Suspecting that England was purposefully stalling time to guarantee little play before stumps, the visitors were already unhappy.
In order to further delay proceedings and make it apparent that no more overs would be bowled on Day 3, Crawley fuelled the fire by going down the pitch to wipe something off the surface in between deliveries. The Indian players erupted as a result.
From the slips, Indian captain Shubman Gill could be heard yelling, and other fielders also expressed their annoyance at Crawley.
When a full-length ball from Bumrah hit Crawley on the hand as he attempted to defend it on the sixth delivery of the over, tensions increased even further. The Indian side responded with sardonic applause when Crawley asked for the physio. Gill sprinted up to Crawley and seemed to point to the pavilion. Ben Duckett, the England opener, joined in the heated argument after Crawley’s response.
Before stumps were called, the over was eventually finished with a final delivery. The time lost in that one-over session made the Indian players unhappy as they left.
Always annoying when you can’t get another over in before close 🙄 pic.twitter.com/3Goknoe2n5

Regarding the game, Joe Root (104), Jamie Smith (51), and Brydon Carse (56), among others, were instrumental in England’s earlier 387 in the first innings. India’s bowling attack was expertly led by Bumrah, who finished with figures of 5/74. With this effort, Bumrah reached 47 wickets, one more than Ishant Sharma’s record of 48, making him the second-highest Indian wicket-taker on English soil.
India responded by reaching 387 all out, which was equal to England’s total. With a cool 100, KL Rahul led the way, with Rishabh Pant (74) and Ravindra Jadeja (72) providing crucial support. With three wickets, Chris Woakes was England’s most effective bowler.
