Late in the third day, right-arm pacer Akash Deep added a fiery moment by hitting a six off a sloppy delivery from Jofra Archer. He made an instant impression after Ravindra Jadeja was dismissed after he had scored a well-balanced 72 off 131 balls.
On the first delivery of the 116th over, Archer veered onto the pads. Deep then boldly flicked the ball over the deep backward square leg, where the fielder was near the rope. The ball soared over for a huge six, giving the Indian team vital runs.

KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant stitched a 141-run partnership for the fourth wicket to start the third day of the Lord’s Test off strongly. Just before lunch, England captain Ben Stokes brilliantly ran out Pant after he had scored 74 from 112 balls. Rahul scored his second century at Lord’s and his tenth Test after the interval, but he was removed soon after after edging a flighted delivery from Shoaib Bashir to Harry Brook at first slip.
Jadeja and Nitish Kumar Reddy stabilised the batting with a 72-run partnership for the sixth wicket off 165 deliveries, but Gill & Co. were under pressure. Reddy made a tough 30 from 91 balls. Later, Jadeja and Washington Sundar formed a second partnership of 50 runs for the seventh wicket, which gave the visitors more fight as they tied the total and were swept out for 387.
Earlier, Joe Root scored 104, Jamie Smith scored 51, and Brydon Carse scored 56 as England amassed 387 in their opening innings. India’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, who finished with stats of 5/74 after taking five wickets and destroying the stumps four times. Bumrah only lost to Ishant Sharma’s 48 wickets in England, making him the second-highest Indian wicket-taker in the nation with 47.
With England winning the first Test match at Headingley and India rallying for a historic victory at Edgbaston thanks to Shubman Gill’s remarkable 430-run total in both innings, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is evenly balanced at 1-1. Both teams are keen to grab the lead in the series, and the third Test at Lord’s has turned out to be an exciting match.
