On Day 2 of the third Test at Lord’s, India’s ace bowler Jasprit Bumrah dismissed England captain Ben Stokes in the third over. Bumrah gave the visitors a much-needed comeback after England bats dominated Day 1.
After batting first, Joe Root was unbeaten on 99 at stumps on the first day. As England reached 271/5 at the conclusion of the first day, Root stitched key stands with Ollie Pope (109 runs) and Ben Stokes (79* by close).
On Day 1, India’s seamers were lacklustre. After Nitish Reddy removed both openers in his first over, Jasprit Bumrah removed Harry Brook with a nip-backer that hit the off stump late in the day.
The third over of the morning saw Jasprit Bumrah dismiss England captain Ben Stokes. From around the wicket, Jasprit Bumrah angled a good-length ball in. Low delivery got past Stokes’ defence, sending off-stump soaring. Stokes, who had reached 44 off 110 balls, seemed shocked.

Same over Jasprit Bumrah eliminates Root, Woakes
Following Root’s set, Jasprit Bumrah improved on his following over. Root resumed on 99* and reached his 37th Test century without much success. Root misjudged the right-arm pacer’s fuller delivery outside off and edged the stumps.
Root fell for 104 as Bumrah sent the batter’s middle stump cartwheeling, equalling Pat Cummins’ record. Chris Woakes was disqualified for a golden duck in the next delivery, caught behind a faint edge verified by UltraEdge after a smart review. England appeared set to be bowled out for under 300 after starting the day expecting to pass 350.
