Richard Ngarava back as Zimbabwe name T20I squad for tri-series

Richard Ngarava, a left-arm pacer, has recovered from injury to play in Zimbabwe’s T20I team for the forthcoming home tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa.

Three T20I-uncapped players are also included in the 16-man team: leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa, left-arm spinner Newman Nyamhuri, and wicketkeeper-batter Tafadzwa Tsiga. Nyamhuri, 19, has already participated in three Test matches and four ODIs for Zimbabwe, while Tsiga and Masekesa have played in Test matches.

From July 14 to July 26, the Harare Sports Club will host the tri-series. In the group stage, each team will play the others twice, with the top two teams moving on to the final.

After recuperating from a lower-back ailment that kept him out of recent games, Ngarava is back. In May, he made his final appearance in the one-time Test match against England. Following his recovery from a concussion he suffered during the most recent Test series against South Africa, all-rounder Brian Bennett has also been allowed to play.

Zimbabwe’s campaign will begin on July 14 against South Africa, then on July 18 against New Zealand, July 20 against South Africa, and July 24 against New Zealand.

Zimbabwe’s tri-series team:

Wessly Madhevere, Tinotenda Maposa, Wellington Masakadza, Vincent Masekesa, Tony Munyonga, Tashinga Musekiwa, Blessing Muzarabani, Dion Myers, Richard Ngarava, Newman Nyamhuri, Tafadzwa Tsiga, Brian Bennett, Ryan Burl, Trevor Gwandu, Clive Madande, and Vincent Masekesa

South Africa’s tri-series team:

The tri-series team from New Zealand:
