When the third Test begins on Thursday, July 10 at the legendary Lord’s Cricket Ground, India vice-captain Rishabh Pant said the tourists aren’t concerned about England changing their plans for the surface. According to sources, England may decide to use a seamer-friendly surface at Lord’s following the humiliating 336-run loss at Edgbaston.
The ‘Bazball’ era has seen England, led by captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum, want to play home Test matches on flat batting surfaces. However, India has performed admirably when batting on the flat surfaces available at Headingley and in the second Test, as evidenced by the visitors’ over 1000-run total in both innings at Edgbaston.
India would concentrate on their own game plans and not give England’s game too much thought, according to Rishabh Pant, who scored two hundreds in the first Test match at Headingley. According to the first images of the Lord’s pitch, the curators have left a respectable amount of grass.
“As a squad, we often plan to play within the constraints that have been set for us. Whether or not the adversary is altering their plans, we don’t wish to consider their thoughts. We’ll give it our all and improve from there, no matter what they do. “Easy,” Pant stated during the news conference prior to the game.
According to Rishabh Pant, the Indian squad would make every effort to take 20 wickets for the second consecutive game. The wicketkeeper-batter stated that the players are shown promise in the absence of veterans like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who declared their retirements from the red-ball format in May, and that this is a chance for the team’s younger players to show off their abilities.
It was discussed that because of the style of cricket they play, England will provide us with more wickets. Getting 20 wickets on these batting-friendly wickets was our motto. That was prearranged. We eventually lose two of our veteran players, so our hitters must step up. As I mentioned, it’s a chance to take charge, and people are gradually doing so. As a team, we might perform even better in the future,” Rishabh Pant remarked.
Jasprit Bumrah is simply incredible: Rishabh Pant
Before being rested in the second Test, Jasprit Bumrah recorded a five-for in the first. For the third Test match at Lord’s, the talismanic seamer is expected to rejoin the team. Pant gave the seasoned pacer high marks and described how hard it is to hold onto wickets when bowling.
“I believe everything. I believe his accuracy and the way his mind functions… He’s simply incredible, in my opinion, dude. Particularly in England, I believe the wicketkeeper has a harder time behind the wicket than the batsman,” Pant remarked.
