After a strong start to Day 4 of the second Test in the current five-match series between England and India, former English cricketer Jonathan Trott believed Rishabh Pant‘s appearance halted England’s momentum. Eight fours and three sixes were part of Pant’s 65-run knock off 58 balls.
Additionally, he noted that the game will be heading into a very intriguing final day and that Pant’s counterattacking punch enhanced the flavour of Test cricket.
However, the momentum was abruptly torn away by Rishabh Pant appearance.
You would think that England had the advantage after taking two wickets early on. You always know there’s more to come when you’re with him. He simply enters the game, moves quickly, wins the match from the first ball, and keeps the bowlers from settling. That’s the allure of Test cricket, and on Day 4, Edgbaston will be packed. As we enter Day 5 of this match, we can expect nine days of very amazing Test cricket. “Test cricket is still going strong,” Trott said on JioHotstar.
India will be delighted to attend such session. Aaron
Regarding the day’s first session, former Indian cricketer Varun Aaron said that the opening session had been won by the visitors. Additionally, he felt that a team like England could never be counted out and praised Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse for their bowling style.
India would be happy to take that session because they scored quickly and only lost two wickets. The blitz from Rishabh Pant truly took the innings to a new level. KL Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse deserve praise for their excellent bowling in favourable conditions, but Rahul was alert and Karun Nair fell while playing the drive. Although it’s never too late, England need to have introduced this type of bowling in the opening innings. If they hope to have a chance in this test, they still have to keep working hard. “But you can never rule them out with a team like England,” Aaron remarked.
With a total of 304/4 in 68 overs, India entered the tea break. With 100 off 130 deliveries, Gill entered the break undefeated. At the other end, Ravindra Jadeja accompanied him with a conservative 25 off 68. Before declaring before play ends for the day, the visitors would want to get a few quick runs.
