Phil Simmons exits Sri Lanka tour due to medical issue

Phil Simmons, the head coach of Bangladesh, is departing Sri Lanka on Friday to travel to London to meet with doctors. Phil Simmons had a prearranged appointment with doctors in the UK, therefore there were no rumours that the head coach was being called in by BCB president Aminul Islam for a performance evaluation of the coaches.

The former West Indian opener is slated to return to Sri Lanka on July 7, so Phil Simmons should be eligible for the third ODI of the series.

After the ODI series, Bangladesh will play three T20Is.

Bangladesh lost the second Test and hence the two-match series, after playing well in the first Test that finished in a draw. They have failed to get into a rhythm. They subsequently lost the first ODI of the three-game series after a spectacular collapse.
